The Pheasant at Neenton

The Pheasant at Neenton is a stunningly restored dining pub with rooms, serving superb Shropshire food in a real country local. We have three newly-opened en-suite bedrooms, with relaxing décor and furnished with a touch of style.

Each has a super-king size bed (one can be configured as a twin), and an excellent shower.

We offer a menu of classic English dishes supplemented daily by tempting seasonal specials – with bar snacks and sandwiches too when you want something lighter.

We serve real ales from Shropshire and further afield and offer a list of wines full of interest, many available by the glass so you can explore those less familiar.

But behind those words there’s a remarkable story. The Pheasant was closed for 9 years and semi-derelict until it was bought, restored, extended and re-opened in late 2014 by the local community.

We’re proud of the Pheasant, and trust you will enjoy eating, drinking and staying with us all the more for knowing you’re in a place lovingly restored and treasured by the local people who now collectively own it.

The Pheasant is professionally run and managed by our talented management team – Head Chef, Mark Harris and Sarah Cowley who runs the bar, dining areas and accommodation. We delight in employing local people with a friendly smile who want you to be glad you came, sorry to leave and impatient to come back.

The picturesque setting of Neenton nestling below the ‘blue remembered hills’ of Housman’s poetry, and the old pub with its magnificent new Oak Room, characterful interiors and orchard garden make an idyllic place to enjoy our delicious food or a relaxing drink. Warm fires will welcome you whenever it’s chilly.

Our new en-suite bedrooms and splendid breakfasts make the Pheasant a perfect base for a break in the heart of south Shropshire’s glorious, yet quiet and undiscovered countryside. Wonderfully situated, away from it all, yet just 6 miles from Bridgnorth and 12 miles from Ludlow, the Shropshire Hills AONB with fabulous walks and spectacular views begins just 2 miles up the road.

Yet we’re still handy for the many museums in and around the Ironbridge Gorge, the historical heart of the Industrial Revolution; the award-winning Severn Valley Railway and the many National Trust and English Heritage properties in the area. However you spend your day, you can look forward to a wonderful evening and overnight stay at The Pheasant.

For business travellers we look to provide a home from home where you can relax, unwind and re-energise for the day ahead. Telford (15 miles), Kidderminster and Wolverhampton (22 miles), Shrewsbury (25 miles), and the Black Country and Birmingham (under 35 miles) are all within easy reach.
