Following a series of chances, an exhibition of archive photographs has led to two historically significant discoveries: The first is that the site of three Shropshire holiday cottages was the site of ironworks & furnaces, making it of industrial archaeological importance. The second is a unique 1860 sketch of an industrial landscape long since gone.

The Severn Valley Railway Charitable Trust (SVR Charitable Trust) has won £95,000 to support one of Britain’s leading heritage railways. The Heritage Lottery Fund grant will help fund the restoration of the classic Great Western Railway (GWR) locomotive 4930 'Hagley Hall' which will be used as the learning and resource tool for the students and apprentices of the Severn Valley Railway’s Heritage Skills Training Academy based in Shropshire and Worcestershire.

Unique Mustang model now on display

Now on display at the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford is a 1:5 scale scratch built North American P-51D Mustang. This unique model took almost ten years to build and was kindly donated to the Museum in autumn last year. This remarkable Mustang model now forms a centre piece display in the Museum's Visitor Centre where visitors can view all its intricate details up close.

Kestrel goes on display at Cosford

The New Year has got off to a flying start at the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford with the addition of the Hawker-Siddeley Kestrel FGA.1 going on public display. This jet aircraft was built to evaluate the jump jet concept during the 1960s and visitors are now able to view it within the Museum's Test Flight collection.


CROWDS FLOCKED TO THE SEVERN VALLEY RAILWAY DURING 2013

More than 211,000 people visited the Severn Valley Railway (SVR) in 2013 to take advantage of all the historic railway has to offer. Last year’s passenger numbers exceeded the Railway’s forecast by over 6,000 passengers and show an increase of nearly 9,000 on 2012’s figures.
