This year’s festival is packed with over 90 local food and drink producers, a busy line-up on the cooking demo stage and live performances from the Cosford and Shawbury Military Wives Choir. Prestigious Royal Award for Severn Valley Country Park Volunteer Group

Volunteers at a South Shropshire Country Park have been awarded the prestigious Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. The award, which was created in 2002 to mark the Monarch’s Golden Jubilee, is the equivalent of an MBE for voluntary groups and recognises excellence in activities carried out by community groups.


Blists Hill Victorian Town Holds its first Steampunk Weekend Festival ‘The Town that Never Was’ 1st – 2nd July

Steampunks and their friends are invited to Blists Hill Victorian Town, near Ironbridge over the weekend of 1st and 2nd July for its first ever Steampunk Festival. The fantastical ‘Town that Never Was’ day and evening event is part of the Ironbridge Gorge Museum’s 50th anniversary celebrations.


Shropshire celebrity chef headlines at Cosford Food Festival

It’s just a month to go until the 5th annual Cosford Food Festival takes place at the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford and this year, organisers have lined-up popular TV Chef Marcus Bean to headline on the demo stage both days. Marcus will be showcasing his passion for great food at the event on 22-23 July which attracts in excess of 13,500 visitors.


Prees Heath Common Reserve Open Day

The former RAF control tower will be open from 10.00am to 4.00pm. The tower was conserved over 3 years ago with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund and Natural England and is an important historic building as well as a significant feature in the landscape. Two rooms will not be accessible due to the presence of bats.


Modellers gear up for flying weekend

The Large Model Aircraft Rally is returning to the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford next month for a weekend of spectacular flying displays. Taking place on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 July, this air show in miniature is set to entertain thousands of aviation and modelling enthusiasts with two full days of flying and family fun.


New interpretation panels installed at Stanmore Country Park to tell the Hidden Heritage of the former RAF Base.

Thanks to a grant from the Tesco Bags of Help Scheme, the Friends of Stanmore Country Park have teamed up with Shropshire Council’s Outdoor Partnerships Team, a local graphics company and a local historian to design and install new interpretation panels in the Country Park.
