Time flies when you’re having fun!
18th August 2011
‘Mini Kites and Windmills’ is a creative activity where children of all ages are welcome to participate. Mini Kites is a chance for children to turn paper straws, crepe paper and string into their very own kite. Follow the design template provided to build your own kite and once complete, choose from a range of colours and stickers to personalise your design.
When you’re happy with your kite design why not have a go at making a windmill? Choose from a range of brightly coloured papers and using just a paper straw and paper fastener see how by simply folding the paper in a certain way, you’re windmill will start to take shape. Staff will be on hand to help assist the younger children but for more creative youngsters, why not have a go at making a multiple layered windmill?
All materials for these sessions will be provided by the Museum and participants will get to take their creations home as a memento of the day. Sessions will run from 11.00am-12.30pm and 2.00pm-3.30pm each day and participation is just £1.00 per person. So the kids are feeling arty and you’re looking for something to keep them entertained before they go back to school, why not bring them along to the Museum?
In addition to this, over the August Bank holiday weekend children of all ages will be able to sample climbing on a special engineered mountaineering wall up to the dizzy height of nearly 30 feet. Tickets for this challenging activity cost just £3.00 and can be purchased on the day. To take part children will need to be at least 1.1 metre tall. Plus, children can play detective as they take part in the ‘Cold War Investigation’ trail, which includes a pen and a prize for every successful participant. The trail guides children around the Museum’s award winning National Cold War Exhibition with a series of cryptic clues and quizzes and participation costs just £1.00 per person.
Tickets for all the activities will be available at the Admissions Desk on arrival.
