Tesco heads for the Hills to help out local charity
15th September 2015
Assisted by colleagues from the Telford Branch they cleaned up and decorated the Centre’s conference rooms. Grow Cook Learn Chief Executive Janet Radford said “Grow Cook Learn were thrilled when Tesco offered to help us out, we were running family activities at a community event in Shrewsbury, Tesco happened to be on the next stall so we got chatting and I explained our charity’s plans to inspire people to grow their own food, cook nutritious meals from fresh local produce and to learn new skills. I was really excited when Hamel and Rachel said they could help us out refreshing our conference rooms with a lick of paint. The results are fantastic and the improved environment will really benefit our trainees and school parties, we are very grateful.”
Tesco Shrewsbury Community Champion Rachel Hartley said they were pleased to offer support “At Tesco we like to support our local community, and Grow Cook Learn’s activities very much fit with our own Farm to Fork initiative. Our staff very much enjoyed the experience and we were able to also supply the paint as well as well as the labour”.
The Tesco crew were able to take a few minutes off to explore Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre and the 34 acre Onny Meadows. Customer Experience Manager Hamel Purohit said they really enjoyed their visit “The Discovery Centre is a good day out and we are very pleased to have been able to contribute to the work of Grow Cook Learn and hope to work with them again in the future”.
