‘Every little helps’ make your trip to museum easier!
28th October 2016
Thanks to support from the museum’s local Tesco store in Madeley, Telford a range of baby items including, nappies, nappy bags and baby wipes are now available on request, should parents forget any of the essentials.
So whether you’ve forgotten to pack that all important spare nappy or you stayed longer than anticipated and need a little extra to keep you going a few more hours, the museum has it covered, meaning you can spend more time enjoying the museum.
This new baby facilities scheme is a continuation of the museum’s ‘Little Swifts’ activity area aimed at families with children under the age of five. Designed to engage the museum’s youngest visitors with the exciting world of aviation, ‘Little Swifts’ has proved popular with young families and has been used by thousands of pre-school youngsters since it launched in April.
RAF Museum Cosford Access and Learning Manager, Julie Brierley said:
“We identified the need for the essential items after speaking with families who were using the new activity area. In fact, my colleague who was visiting the museum with her toddler on a day off work was faced with the nappy dilemma and from this we started looking into the idea of ‘how can we make lives easier for parents’ so they can fully enjoy their day out at the museum. Having worked with Tesco before we approached them to see if they would be able to assist getting the scheme off the ground and they were happy to oblige. Their continued support and kind donation is very much appreciated and we hope that the scheme will be utilised by families visiting us in the future.”
Community Champion at Tesco Madeley, Valerie Sleath said:
“We help out lots in our local community and I'm pleased we could help the RAF Museum Cosford with their ‘Little Swifts’ scheme. My job as Community Champion for Tesco Madeley is very rewarding and I’m sure lots of people will be grateful for the baby goods we have donated.”
The ‘Little Swifts’ activity area is located underneath the wings of the Vulcan inside the National Cold War Exhibition and includes a range of early learning activities suitable for babies and toddlers. A baby pod with soft toys, small interactive helicopter and aeroplane, mini cockpits, flying themed books, a world map rug, rocket wooden toys, an activity table and even some comfy seating for parents and carers to use whilst the youngsters are having fun are all available to use free of charge.
With parent and child parking bays, baby changing facilities in each hangar, wide isles for pushchairs and FREE entry, the RAF Museum Cosford makes the perfect choice for a day out with the little ones.
‘Little Swifts’ and the essential baby facilities are now available for all parents and carers with children under the age of five to utilise during their visit. So running out of an essential item no longer means a dash for the car home, just speak with a member if staff who will provide you with the sought after item so you can continue to enjoy your day.
