Culinary expert welcomed to Blists Hill Victorian Town for Christmas cooking demonstrations
5th December 2011
Since training in Switzerland and Paris, Simon’s worldwide culinary career has spanned four decades. He has worked as Chef Saucier at ‘The Inn on The Park’ on Park Lane, London, catered for 4,000 at a wedding in New York and was the chef at Thrales Restaurant in Lichfield for 23 years. Simon has also appeared on several television programmes including ‘This Morning’ and ‘Market Kitchen.’ His appearance at Blists Hill Victorian Town marks the end of a year of cooking demonstrations throughout Europe including the Ludlow Food Festival, the Garrick Theatre, Lichfield and Arcen Castle, Holland.
Visitors to these light-hearted demonstrations will witness Simon creating a range of historical dishes including ginger and wine syllabub, strawberry and peppercorn pancakes and a 14th century dish named Mumbled Rabbit all of which are taken from his book ‘Simmering Through the Ages,’ which will be available to buy. There will be four shows per day each lasting for half-an-hour with questions welcomed from members of the audience.
John Challen, Operations Manager at Blists Hill Victorian Town commented: “Wonderful food is an important part of everyone’s Christmas celebrations; we are really excited to welcome Simon to Blists Hill’s Christmas weekends to offer some seasonal ideas and handy hints.”
