Bridgnorth wins the Best Large Market Town Award
13th December 2016
Bridgnorth wowed the judges with its quintessential market town and on 18th October 2016 it was shortlisted as one of the 3 final nominees for the Best Large Market Town category in the Great British High Street competition.
After the town being described as ‘a town that is carving out its own identity, with a growing tourism and retail offer being combined with a “living and breathing” place to live, work and play' Bridgnorth won over the vote of the public by a land slide.
It was awarded £5,000 and expert training from Google’s digital taskforce for shops, bars and restaurants, as well as a trip to Twitter UK’s London office to boost its social media skills, and was awarded a trophy by High Streets Minister Andrew Percy at a ceremony in London yesterday.
The Competition is run by the Department for Communities and Local Government and its purpose is to celebrate the great work that is being done to revive, adapt and diversify the nation’s high streets. And there is no more deserving town than Bridgnorth to win.
