Half term model making at Cosford

October half term is just around the corner, so if you’re starting to plan how you’re going to entertain the children, look no further than the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford who are inviting families to participate in a fun model making activity. Taking place from Monday 23 to Friday 27 October, little aviators can choose from a vast number of Airfix kits to build, including a 1:72 Mosquito, Sea Harrier, Mitsubishi Zero, Albatros or Sopwith Pup.

After recent news of the win of the ‘Best Arts Project’ in the prestigious National Lottery Awards, it has was announced on Friday that the largest mechanical puppet ever constructed in Britain will rise again next Easter in an ultimate ‘Resurrection Tour’ and visit a number of sites around the UK including Blists Hill Victorian Town, one of the ten Ironbridge Gorge Museums in Shropshire.

Flight simulation event heads to Cosford

Aviation fans can experience the virtual skies in Shropshire next month as the Flight Sim 2017 event heads to the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford for a fifth consecutive year. Taking place on Saturday 7 October, aviation enthusiasts will enjoy a day packed with all the latest flight simulation software and the chance to test out their virtual flying skills.


Prestigious Royal Award for Severn Valley Country Park Volunteer Group

Volunteers at a South Shropshire Country Park have been awarded the prestigious Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. The award, which was created in 2002 to mark the Monarch’s Golden Jubilee, is the equivalent of an MBE for voluntary groups and recognises excellence in activities carried out by community groups.
