Follow a Victorian ghost story trail at Blists Hill Victorian Town half-term 22nd - 30th October

Families who visit Blists Hill Victorian Town, near Ironbridge between 22nd and 30th October are invited to follow a Victorian ghost story trail around the historic streets. Discover how famous authors of the time, including Charles Dickens, wrote hugely popular works about spirits, ghosts, fog-shrouded graves and mysterious reflections appearing in mirrors. Some of the most famous stories will be included in the spooky trail.


October Half Term at Severn Valley Country Park

Staff at Severn Valley Country Park are currently preparing for October half term. The visitor centre and tea shop will be open every day between Saturday 22nd October and Sunday 30th October from 11am-5pm. Tasty cakes, made to order sandwiches, homestyle soup and many other delicious snacks will be available daily.

New aircraft arrivals heading to Cosford

The Royal Air Force Museum Cosford will be welcoming a collection of new aircraft to the site later this year as it prepares to celebrate and commemorate the centenary of the Royal Air Force in 2018. New arrivals will include a Wolverhampton built Boulton Paul Defiant Mk 1, the last surviving example of its kind, plus a rare Messerschmitt BF109G-2.


Spookley Pumpkin Festival at Apley Farm Shop

A farm shop near Bridgnorth hosts one of the busiest halloween pumpkin festivals in Shropshire. Apley Farm Shop began organizing the Spookley Pumpkin Festival in 2012. This year it’s running 15-16 Oct & 22-30 Oct, which coincides with the schools’ half term week.

October half term is almost upon us and this year the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford has a range of devilish Halloween crafts for your little monsters to take part in. These spookily creative activities cost just £1 each and will run from 24-28 October between 11.30am and 3pm with all materials provided by the museum.

Aviation fans can experience the virtual skies in Shropshire next month as the Flight Sim 2016 event heads to the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford. Taking place on Saturday 8 October, aviation enthusiasts will enjoy a day packed with all the latest flight simulation software and the chance to test out their virtual flying skills.

Roald Dahl and his RAF journey to literacy stardom

One of Britain’s most iconic writers, Roald Dahl will be the focus of a talk taking place at the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford next month. Celebrating the 100th birthday of Roald Dahl, the talk entitled ‘Roald Dahl’s War’ will delve into his life before he became an iconic writer, including his career in the RAF. Presented by historian Graham Laurie, the talk will take place at 2pm on Saturday 10 September 2016.


Spitfire 10K - Countdown to race day….

The countdown has officially started for the first ever Spitfire 10K! Taking place at the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford in just under two weeks’ time, this unique sporting event will see hundreds of runners’ race across the airfield and down the runway before crossing the finish line and picking up a specially commissioned Spitfire medal. This charity run, raising funds for the RAF Museum (registered charity No. 244708) will take place on Sunday 4 September, where over 600 runners are already signed up to take part.

River Festival to celebrate 30 years of Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site – 17th September

Telford & Wrekin Council, with support from Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust, is to stage a free World Heritage River Festival on Saturday, 17th September 2016 – celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Gorge becoming a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
