The Baron at Bucknell
Attraction in Bucknell, Shropshire
With great home cooked fresh food, award winning local real ales, a log fire, large garden and car park, charming restaurant, 5 luxury bedrooms, camping in the paddock and the warmest welcome in Shropshire, this inn is very special.
Customers say it's a home from home, where nothing is too much trouble. The owners, Debra and Phil Wright take great pride in the reputation they have built for great food and excellent customer service. Converted and sympathetically restored from farm buildings the inn has a warm and convivial atmosphere and offers something for everyone.
Five luxury bedrooms have now been added with all the convenience of modern life but the comfort of a country inn. If we’ve forgotten anything just ask! The rooms have been individually designed and have 2000 pocket sprung king size or twin beds, cotton sheets and hypoallergenic bedding, built in robes, oak furniture, flat screen 32” TV with DVD/CD, radio alarm with I Pod dock, tea and coffee facilities, hairdryer, WiFi Internet access, dressing table with mirror and iron and ironing board. In the bathroom there are luxury toiletries, fluffy towels and towel warmers. Three bathrooms have showers over the bath, one has a walk in shower and the luxury room has a whirlpool bath and separate shower. The 2 twin rooms can also be converted into Superking double rooms as the beds are ‘Zip and Link’ beds.
Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Baron is perfect for relaxing and touring the local area. On the border with Herefordshire and Wales, there are many market towns and villages which have castles, abbeys and fortresses - echoes of a turbulent past. Ludlow with its festivals, castle, boutique shops and market is the prettiest of towns boasting over 500 listed buildings and is 20 minutes by car. There is also a local bus service. Knighton, Clun, Bishops Castle, Bridgnorth and Church Stretton all offer great days out. Tourist attractions including Ironbridge and the Severn Valley and Acton Scott, featured in the BBC series ‘Victorian Farm’ are within easy reach. We are walker and cyclist friendly. Don’t forget we have circular walks of varying abilities from the pub. Bucknell is on the Heart of Wales railway line so you can even leave the car at home for a greener break.
If all this has worn you out you can always just watch the birds in the garden, rabbits and pheasants in the paddock and red kites circling over the Mynd! Enjoy a pint of real ale, a relaxed meal and have a chat with the locals and then get a great nights sleep.
